Privately owned reserve bank of the United States of America. The exact composition of the shareholders has always been kept secret. Main shareholders are known to be J.P. Morgan, Citygroup and the merged Chase-Manhattan Bank and Chemical Bank. The U.S. Federal Reserve was founded as a tool for financing the U.S. entry into World War I. The U.S. Federal Reserve finances itself through lending money to the federal government of the U.S. Interest earned is repaid by the income tax for which no legal basis exists, in fact all U.S. income tax paid goes towards those interest payments.
