In retrospect, how strange it is that on September 11, 1973, President Salvador Allende of Chile, the world’s first democratically-elected Marxist president, died, either by murder or suicide, in a coordinated revolt by army leaders.

The attack was carried out on the presidential palace with planes, rockets, bombs and tanks after Allende rejected a demand to resign. The Coup was led by human piranha General Augusto Pinochet, who went on to rule the country with an iron fist for almost 17 years, meeting his maker on December 10, 2006.

Ironically, 28 years later on the same day, September 11, 2001, we saw the World Trade Center and Pentagon attacked and Flight 93 crashed in Pennsylvania -- the incidents left nearly 3,000 dead.

Chile’s military junta claims fewer than 100 people died. But General Pinochet’s regime in fact exercised its brutal muscle during his reign to torture and murder some 3,000 souls, jail 27,000 more without trial, and send thousands more fleeing the country for asylum. Above and beyond these similarities of events, the Chilean coup was engineered by Henry Kissinger, Richard Nixon and Richard Helms’ CIA. The CIA admitted as much on September 11, 1998, another coincidental 9/11.

As to the CIA’s engineering of September 11, 2001, just think that the CIA funded, trained, and armed the Mujihadeen jihad, including Osama bin Laden, who fought the Soviets in their baited invasion of Afghanistan; fought them for 10 years, under CIA funding, which group became the training ground for bin Laden’s “Al Qaeda (the base),” originally the title of a file on Osama’s laptop which contained the names of fighters and leaders collected in the protracted struggle against the “atheist” Soviets.

It is fair to say that this $50 billion a year a intelligence organization, supposedly the most competent in the world, was amazingly unaware of the plans or derelict in delivering intelligence. It is fair to say the CIA was guilty of neglect, incompetence and/or active participation with the government and all the usual suspects in coordinating an effort to create 9/11. This in order to bring about a coup of our “democratic” government. As a result, this same cadre declared war on Afghanistan, part of their larger "War on Terror," only days later, without any further investigation to determine “whodunit,” railroading a fearful Congress into agreement.

Within eight months (not the 30 months) he had to do the job, Mayor Giuliani, fellow conspirator, swept away all evidence of the massive demolition to smelters in Asia, the Fresh Kill landfill in Staten Island, and at the devil’s doorstep. Thus, it is no surprise that Hizzoner Giuliani, though besmirched with endless private and public scandals, remains the Republican front-runner for president. He is the cloned Pinochet/Bush/Cheney, et al of the US.

Origins of 911 as an emergency number

Lest you think the use of 911 as a significant emergency number was born yesterday, think again. Wikipedia reports, “The push for the development of a nationwide emergency telephone number came in 1957 when the National Association of Fire Chiefs recommended a single number to be used for reporting fires. In 1967, the President's Commission on Law Enforcement and Administration of Justice recommended the creation of a single number that can be used nationwide for reporting emergencies. The burden then fell on the Federal Communications Commission, which then met with AT&T in November 1967 in order to come up with a solution.

"In 1968, a solution was agreed upon. AT&T had chosen the number 911, which met the requirements that it be brief, easy to remember, dialed easily, and that it worked well with the phone systems in place at the time. How the number 911 itself was chosen is not well known and is subject to much speculation. However, many assert that the number 911 was chosen to be similar to the numbers 2-1-1 (long distance), 4-1-1 (information, later called 'directory assistance'), and 6-1-1 (repair service), which had already been in use by AT&T since 1966. Also, it was necessary to ensure that the 9-1-1 number was not dialed accidentally, so 9-1-1 made sense because the numbers '9' and '1' were on opposite ends of a phone's rotary dial.”

So the magic number was in the air long before the Chile Coup in 1973. Yet 9-1-1 Emergency Telephone Number Day was proclaimed, by U.S. President Ronald Reagan in 1987, to occur on the 11th day of September of that year.[2] The proclamation was made to promote the North American universal emergency telephone number 9-1-1. After the September 11, 2001 attacks, the reminders of 9-1-1 were dropped in favor of remembrance of the victims of the attacks.”

From a historical perspective, David Simpson at The Chicago Blog, in 9/11: Past and Future notes that in addition to “the assassination of Allende on September 11, 1973; [we find] the British Mandate in Palestine on September 11, 1922; the U.S. invasion of Honduras on September 11, 1919; and the defeat of the Ottoman armies before the gates of Vienna on September 11, 1683.”

He adds, “If this is not metaphysical irony or the mark of some devilish and well-informed intelligence, then it is a sign that our culture is saturated with such coincidences, that almost any date would bring up other anniversaries, any of which could become significant in the light of a supervening event.”

But I don’t believe that our culture is “saturated” with any other such day/event coincidences. More likely it indicates the “footprint” of some ongoing elitist and corrupting force, organization or intelligence. The obvious “ops” stain of US interference lingers blatantly, at the very least through the invasion of Honduras.

In fact, let me go one step further with numerology. The first World Trade Tower assault was made on the North Tower in a massive fire on February 13, 1975 (a little more than two years after Allende’s fall), a year after the WTC’s completion. The fire’s origin is still a mystery. Nor did the building fall from it, though it was said by a fire chief that it burned like a blowtorch.

The common thread

These 911 events, notably Chile, the Mandate of Palestine and the Honduras invasion, all involve the serious subversion of the freedoms of their citizens, whether, Chileans, Palestinians, Hondurans or Americans, especially given the present slaughter of our Constitution and our judicial system. The assault continues to this day, as the CIA admits to Destroying Videos Showing Interrogations.

It is a sad comment that the CIA, having grown out of the Office of Strategic Services post World War II, a war in which America was seen as a liberator not an oppressor, has turned into Harry Truman’s, Dwight Eisenhower’s, and John F Kennedy’s worst nightmare. As they feared and predicted, the CIA has become a shadow army supporting the efforts of an insidious shadow government, pulling political strings all over the world, supporting the most politically regressive regimes, which in turn benefit the interests of multi-national corporations for strategic advantages and profit.

Is that what this American Dream has all come down to, a band of sacrosanct brigands overthrowing governments, including our own, left and right? If so, the forefathers of this country, like the slain Salvador Allende, must be turning over in their graves. Perhaps it’s time to ring up 9-1-1. The question is can we trust whoever answers?
