What the Israel lobby wants, it too often gets
America's relationship with Israel is difficult to discuss openly in
the United States. In March, we published an article in the London
Review of Books titled "The Israel Lobby," based on a working paper
which we posted on the faculty Web site at Harvard's John F. Kennedy
School of Government. Our goal was to break the taboo and to generate a
candid discussion of U.S. support for Israel, because it has
far-reaching consequences for Americans and others around the world.
What followed was a barrage of responses--some constructive, some not.

Letter from Palestine
Morning came and we found that 90 of the nation's best men were captured by Israel from their homes in the night. Our mayor, who was released from four years in prison just a month ago. Someone for whom I have the utmost respect and admiration, as do his people here, political allies and opponents alike. And our vice mayor, too. The last time I talked with him, earlier this week, he was struggling a lot with chronic back pain. I wonder where they are now. If they have been fed today, or tortured. If they will sleep on beds tonight, or not at all. If they will be home tomorrow. If we will never see some of them again alive.

Rampage in Gaza
"It is the duty of Israeli leaders to explain to public opinion, clearly and courageously, a certain number of facts that are forgotten with time. The first of these is that there is no Zionism, colonialization, or Jewish State without the eviction of the Arabs and the expropriation of their lands."
-- Ariel Sharon, Agence France Presse, November 15, 1998.
"What is driving the conflict is the radical inequality between the Jewish minority, that rules all of the territory between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River, and the disenfranchised Palestinian majority, who are paying the price for the luxury that Israel lives in…But what pays for that normality for Israelis is the total dispossession of the majority population. And Israel believes that it can hide them behind walls, in ghettos, as was done to Jews in Europe in the 1930s and '40s".
-- Ali Abunimah "Electronic Intifada"

Kidnapped by Israel
The British Media And The Invasion Of Gaza
Few readers of a British newspaper would have noticed the story. In the Observer of 25 June, it merited a mere paragraph hidden in the “World in brief” section, revealing that the previous day a team of Israeli commandos had entered the Gaza Strip to “detain” two Palestinians Israel claims are members of Hamas.

Israel routinely ignores and defies UN Resolutions
One of the justifications given for the attack on Iraq was that Iraq was in defiance of UN Resolutions. In hindsight, it turned out that Iraq was not defying the UN; they had indeed disposed of their banned weapons of mass destruction.
Israel, on the other hand, routinely ignores and defies UN Resolutions, some of which are listed here.
